Kinyeti Academy exists to identify, nurture, and prepare South Sudan’s most promising students from any background to excel academically, lead with character, and serve their country and the world.
The school derives its name from Mount Kinyeti - the highest peak in South Sudan - a name which captures the aspiration we have for our students. In addition to ensuring our students cultivate rigorous intellect and knowledge as well as character and leadership skills, we will encourage them to rise to the pinnacle of whatever field they choose. Moreover, we want our graduates to be cognizant of the hurdles on a path to summit any human endeavor, and be able to address them to make a positive impact in the world.
Kinyeti Academy is the vision of founder Lorem Aminathia.
About Lorem Aminathia
South Sudan does not only have a schooling crisis. It has a leadership pipeline crisis. Our insight is that the country’s most promising children are often invisible because poverty hides talent. Kinyeti identifies those students early, gives them rigorous preparation, and connects them to world-class opportunities.
We are now seeing early evidence in student growth, confidence, and academic readiness. What we need now is a circle of serious partners who can help us build this into a national model. As such we are actively seeking partners to support this work especially educators, and funding organizations experienced with starting schools in very challenging educational conditions.
As the founder of the school and its primary advocate, I know that potential friends of the Academy will want to know something about my background and why I have been preparing for many years to dedicate myself to this project.
